Weekly League guide

In the Weekly League, you collect points from rated games for a week and compete for rank within a group of your tier. At the end of the week, the top of each group moves up a tier, and once you move up, you never drop back down.

Tiers

Tiers Promoted Min. size Rating
Bronze 9 2 -
Silver 7 2 1300↑
Gold 6 2 1500↑
Platinum 4 7 1700↑
Diamond 3 10 1900↑
Master 1 10 -
Grandmaster - - -

Promoted is the number moving up to the next tier from a group of 30; smaller groups promote proportionally fewer. Min. size is the smallest group with a promotion. Rating is the rating you need to move up into that tier.

Rules

  • Start Everyone starts in Bronze. After that, you move up one tier at a time, only by promotion.
  • Groups A new week starts every Saturday 15:00 (UTC). Your first scored game of the week puts you in a group of your tier. Each group has up to 30 players.
  • Points In rated games, a win is 3 points, a draw 1, and a loss 0. All rated games against people and bots count.
  • Point limits You can score in only 3 games a day and 10 a week against the same person, and in only 10 games a day against bots (all bots combined). Games that end in under 10 moves and games between duplicate accounts don't count.
  • Promotion At the end of the week, the top of each group moves up one tier. In a group of 30: Bronze 9, Silver 7, Gold 6, Platinum 4, Diamond 3; smaller groups promote proportionally fewer. In Master, only the winner of a group of 10 or more moves up, and in groups under 5, only the Bronze, Silver, and Gold winners move up. Players with 0 points are not promoted.
  • Small groups If a small group's promotion count comes to 0, no one is promoted that week. Minimum group size for promotion: Platinum 7, Diamond 10, Master 10. A group of one has no promotion.
  • Rating requirement Up to Diamond, you also need the rating of the next tier: Silver 1300, Gold 1500, Platinum 1700, Diamond 1900. If your rating falls short when the week ends, you stay, and your spot goes to the next player who meets it.
  • Ties With equal points, more wins ranks higher. If wins are also equal, whoever reached that score first ranks higher.
  • Fair play Manipulating the standings, for example by losing on purpose, arranging games, or using multiple accounts, can void your league points, remove you from the standings, and restrict your account.

FAQ

Do I need to sign up?
No. Your first scored game of the week puts you in a group automatically. Your tier stays the same in weeks you don't play.
I won a game but got no points.
The game may have gone over the limit for the same person or for bots, or ended in under 10 moves. These games still count for your rating and record.
What does '1700↑' in the standings mean?
It means your rating is below the requirement for the next tier. Even in a promotion spot, if your rating is still short when the week ends, you stay, and the next player moves up instead.
What is the 'All' view?
It lists the members of a tier by the total league points they have earned across all weeks.
