Daily Arena Guide

FlipSight Daily Arena lets you keep playing online games throughout a set period while opponents are switched automatically.

Schedule and entry

You can register as soon as the Arena is published. The Arena starts if at least one player is registered; if only one participant is available for pairing, it stays open while waiting for an opponent. Once it starts, you can join, leave, and rejoin at any time until it ends. The Arena opening alternates between the standard opening (STD) and the random opening (XOT), and the clock is drawn at random from 1, 2, 3 and 5 minutes. Check the Arena card in Online Match for the current schedule and game settings.

When you can be paired

To be paired, you must keep the Online Match or Arena page connected. You will not be paired while playing another game or solving puzzles. On a desktop browser, you may still be paired after switching to another window or tab, but you will not be paired after switching from the mobile app to another app while it is in the background. You may spectate other games; if paired while spectating, you will automatically move to your Arena game.

How pairing works

The opening batch prioritizes participants with smaller rating differences. Later pairings prioritize available opponents with smaller differences in current Arena rank. With at least six waiting players, the full pairing is calculated immediately. With two to five, the system first gathers candidates for up to five seconds, then evaluates combinations using rating difference together with differences in current Arena score and rank. If a suitable combination is found, players are paired immediately. Otherwise it waits until the clock-based long-wait threshold (24 seconds for 3-minute games, 36 seconds for 5-minute games, and 15–50 seconds overall). A top-four player may wait up to 10 seconds when an unplayed top-four opponent has just finished, regardless of games played or score difference. When possible, consecutive games against the same opponent are avoided and color balance is considered. To keep waits short, you are not guaranteed to face every participant.

Scoring

Your first consecutive win is worth 2 points, the second 3, and every win from the third onward 4. A draw is worth 1 and a loss 0; either one ends the winning streak. Arena points are separate from rating; each game result affects your rating just like a regular rated online game.

Finish and standings

Games paired before the Arena ends count even if they finish later. Standings use points, wins, longest streak, then average opponent rating. If exactly two players have equal points across a medal boundary (1st–2nd, 2nd–3rd, or 3rd–4th), they play a tiebreak. With three or more players on equal points, the normal standings criteria apply without a tiebreak. If a tiebreak game is drawn, they switch colors and play again after 30 seconds, repeating until there is a winner. Tiebreak games do not affect Arena points, but count toward online rating and record like regular rated games. If no game is completed, the Arena is cancelled.
